Maria Christopoulos Katris, the Co-Founder and CEO of Built In, embodies the entrepreneurial spirit ingrained in her from a young age, growing up in a Greek-American family immersed in business. After establishing a successful nanny-placement agency, Maria redirected her focus towards her vision of transforming Chicago into a thriving tech hub. Founded in 2011, Built In has emerged as a premier platform for tech recruitment in the United States, connecting 2 million visitors with over 1,800 tech companies.

Maria’s educational background includes a BS from Miami University and an MBA from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Her leadership prowess has earned her recognition on Crain’s “”40 Under 40″” list, and she serves on the advisory board of Miami University’s Altman School of Entrepreneurship.

Built In’s remarkable growth and impact have been acknowledged with placements in the Inc. 5000 and the Deloitte Fast 500 rankings. The company’s 2019 $22 million series C funding round led by Updata partners, with participation from MATH Venture Partners, was the largest funding round closed by a woman-led company in Chicago history at the time.
